There are several good ski schools and guides. Some of the schools offer week-long camps to push your skiing to the next level.

An adult day ticket will set you back CHF depending on the time of year with small discounts available for multiple days. Discounted lift tickets can be included in a ski package when booking via Scout. The high cost of things would be enough to put off most families but the quite intense party scene, inconvenient village layout and disconnected albeit central beginner areas also detract from the appeal.

Typically, most of them are all-inclusive. Location is key when choosing a hotel.

Venturing further into the Four Valleys

Generally speaking, those close to the lifts and center are noisy, while those a bit further out are a bit quieter but will require a shuttle to get to the slopes. Unusually for a ski resort, some of the better value 3-star hotels are some of the more conveniently located. There are only a few ski-in ski-out hotels in Verbier. It has an excellent sport center with pool, saunas, hot tubs and a large indoor ice rink.

There is also a fantastic sled run from Savoleyres to La Tzoumaz, winter hiking, snowshoe trekking, a small cross-country ski area and dog sledding.

Motor heads can also try their hand at ice-karting.

Getting There and Around Geneva is the closest main airport, about a two-hour drive. Bus transfers are available from all airports. From then on, a polite blue runs takes you down to the hamlet of Siviez, from which you can turn left and head over to Nendaz, or head onwards towards Veysonnaz and Thyon to the East.

Nendaz Nendaz is a thriving resort in its own right, with thousands of chalets and a bustling nightlife.

The skiing above the resort is largely red and blue pistes, so great for beginners and intermediates. You can avoid the unpisted mogully bit by downloading in the cable car above it, but there is then an unavoidable very short section of black piste that will need to be negotiated if you choose this route to Nendaz the alternative would be to take the free ski bus round to Nendaz from Siviez, taking around 20mins.

Veysonnaz andThyon The pistes over at Veysonnaz and Thyon are largely red and blue, and there is a lot of tree-line skiing so the scenery is extremely picturesque. For the intrepid skier or boarder, there are also off-piste runs down from Greppon Blanc, and a long black down from Etherolla towards Les Masses, both of which are memorable and worth a go. If you miss the last lifts back over to Verbier, it is not a simple bus ride home.

In September , the Verbier campus of St. George's now called Verbier International school , a private international school , was founded and opened its doors in the Chalet Mascotte at the entrance of the village.
